Field Activator Unit (FAU)
The Field Activator Unit is a simple hand held unit used to communicate with the Personal Identity Device and the Site Monitoring Unit or GSM Site Monitoring Unit.
When an operation is performed, the success or otherwise is confirmed to the user by the Field Activator Unit using LEDs.
Four clearly labelled buttons indicate the four functions of the Field Activator Unit:
- PID ON puts the Personal Identity Device into Active Mode, checks the battery and tamper status and simultaneously clears any Personal Identity Device tampers.
- PID OFF takes the Personal Identity Device from Active Mode to Dormant Mode.
- SMU OFF is used to power down a Site Monitoring Unit or a GSM Site Monitoring Unit once the mains power has been disconnected.
- SMU CALL prompts a Site Monitoring Unit or GSM Site Monitoring Unit to call into the central computer system to download all curfew and system data.
The Field Activator Unit is password protected and when not in use, will automatically shut itself down to preserve the battery life.
